Seguir el crecimiento del bebé y ver cómo se desarrolla y gana peso es una parte maravillosa del embarazo. Pero estos datos no se recogen sólo para que podamos deleitarnos con estas etapas. De hecho, son esenciales para evaluar si el embarazo va como se esperaba y si todo va bien con el bebé.
Poco después del parto, el bebé ya se somete a una evaluación con el pediatra que sigue de cerca el nacimiento junto con el obstetra. La información recogida se registra en un documento que se entregará a los padres en el momento del alta, que contiene información sobre el peso, la talla y el perímetro cefálico, así como la fecha de parto. Esta es la primera información que se registrará en la tabla de crecimiento del bebé, que le acompañará al menos hasta que cumpla tres años.
Además de la tabla de crecimiento del bebé, los pediatras utilizan tablas con referencias para el seguimiento de cada grupo de edad, que contienen la altura y el cálculo de la estatura potencial del niño cuando llegue a la edad adulta. Esta tabla se conoce como tabla de porcentajes y se utiliza para verificar en qué porcentaje se encuentra el bebé o el niño.
Durante la consulta con el pediatra, se pesará y se medirá al bebé para controlar en la tabla cuál es la evolución del crecimiento y desarrollo del bebé. Esta curva se realiza en la tabla estándar de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), que se actualiza siguiendo los cambios físicos de la población en todo el mundo. La curva de tu bebé no debe ser exactamente la misma que la de la OMS, pero es importante acercarse a lo que se considera saludable. Algo alarmante y que debe investigarse es cuando la curva se desvía demasiado de lo esperado por la tabla de crecimiento del bebé.

Por lo tanto, es muy importante hacer un seguimiento continuo con el pediatra para evaluar el desarrollo del bebé.
Para las madres que tienen la costumbre de comparar el peso y la estatura de sus bebés con los de sus allegados, hay que recordar que cada bebé y cada niño se desarrollan a su manera y crecen de forma diferente unos de otros, además de la genética familiar, que también varía e influye. Por lo tanto, el hecho de que tu bebé sea más delgado o más pequeño que el otro no significa que no sea normal.
Ahora bien, si se observa una disminución de la curva de crecimiento del bebé, el pediatra analizará los problemas de alimentación e indicará la mejor manera de remediar la situación. Los momentos de la lactancia o la leche que se ofrece al bebé, así como el momento en que se introducen nuevos alimentos, deben ser informados al pediatra para que sepa cómo responde el cuerpo del bebé a cada fase. Si es necesario, el pediatra puede solicitar exámenes complementarios para una revisión más detallada.

El peso normal de un recién nacido a término puede oscilar desde los 2,5 hasta los 4 kilos. En su primer año, el bebé experimentará el mayor índice de crecimiento de toda su vida, especialmente en la etapa comprendida entre los cuatro y los seis meses.
Y es que te parecerá increíble que la pequeña bolita recién nacida que hoy sujetas entre tus brazos llegue a triplicar su peso cuando sople su primera vela.

Un bebé recién nacido suele perder entre el cinco y el 10 por ciento de su peso durante los tres o cuatro días siguientes a su nacimiento. Esta pérdida de peso fisiológica es absolutamente normal, y se debe a la expulsión de orina y meconio acumulados durante la gestación, y a que al principio comen muy poquito.
Recordemos que el estómago del recién nacido es como el de una canica, por lo que si has optado por lactancia materna, los primeros días tendrá suficiente con el calostro. Cuando se produzca la subida de la leche, tu cuerpo ajustará la producción a la demanda de tu bebé, de ahí que sea tan importante ofrecerle siempre lactancia a demanda.
Lo habitual es que a partir del cuarto día, el bebé deje de perder peso y comience a ganarlo, llegando a recuperar su peso de nacimiento en torno a la primera semana de vida (o incluso algunas veces algo más tarde).
Durante estos primeros días es importante controlar que el bebé vaya recuperando el peso perdido, porque de no ser así habría que valorar qué está ocurriendo (reflujo, problemas de salud…), así como analizar posibles problemas con la lactancia (mal agarre, frenillo sublingual, retrognatia, problemas con la producción…)
Hasta el primer mes y medio de vida, o aproximadamente las primeras seis semanas, el bebé ganará unos 20 gramos diarios, lo que equivale a una media de 140 gramos semanales.
Hacia el décimo día de nacido, la leche de la madre se transforma en leche de transición, que contiene menos proteínas que el calostro y que variará día a día hasta alcanzar la composición de la leche madura.
El volúmen de leche aumenta en cada tetada, por lo que el estómago del bebé se adaptará a esta nueva circunstancia. Madre e hijo se compenetran: ella irá produciendo más leche conforme el bebé vaya aumentando el volúmen de su estómago para tomarla.
O quizás sea al revés, el tamaño del estómago del bebé aumenta y el cuerpo de la madre, que lo sabe, produce más leche para darle lo que necesita.
Si hasta las seis semanas de vida nuestro bebé ha ido aumentando de peso según lo establecido y la madre siente que su lactancia está yendo bien (no hay dolores, grietas, mal agarre…), podría considerarse que la lactancia ya ha quedado instaurada.
En las revisiones pediátricas se continuará controlando el peso del bebé, y lo normal es que la ganancia de peso semanal se sitúe entre los 100 y los 200 gramos. Sin embargo, si tu hijo hace pis con frecuencia, sus cacas son normales y su estado anímico y general es bueno, no deberías preocuparte por el peso pues cada niño sigue su propia curva de crecimiento.
En esta etapa de su vida el bebé experimentará una ganancia semanal de entre 80 y 150 gramos, lo que se traduce en una media de entre 500 y 650 gramos mensuales.
A este ritmo, lo normal es que al cumplir los seis meses haya doblado su peso de nacimiento.
Recordemos, además, que su alimentación debe continuar siendo lactancia exclusiva, ya sea materna, artificial o mixta.
Y es que aunque por suerte cada vez hay más profesionales concienciados con la lactancia y debidamente informados, también podría ocurrir que nos encontráramos con el caso contrario, y si nuestro bebé no sigue los cánones generales de peso nos recomienden adelantar la alimentación complementaria.
Si embargo, según nos comentaba nuestro compañero Armando en este fantástico artículo, esta medida carecería de sentido, pues la leche (ya sea materna o artificial) contiene más calorías que la fruta o la verdura, y es nutricionalmente más rica que los cereales.
Lógicamente hablamos de bebés saludables, pero que siguen su propio ritmo. Si por el contrario, la curva de altura va subiendo pero la de peso se va estancando, habría que ver qué está pasando y por qué el bebé no está ganando lo suficiente.
A partir de los seis meses, la ganancia de peso ya no será tan acusada como hasta ahora, y lo normal es que el bebé gane entre 40 y 85 gramos semanales, lo que se traduce en un media mensual de entre 300 y 450 gramos.
A partir de los seis meses el bebé deberá comenzar con la alimentación complementaria, pero recordemos que la base de su dieta debe continuar siendo la leche, y en caso de seguir tomando pecho la lactancia debe ser a demanda.
El último trimestre antes de cumplir su primer añito es el momento en el que menos peso cogerá el bebé, con una media de entre 200 y 300 gramos al mes. Lo normal es que al cumplir los 12 meses el bebé haya triplicado su peso de nacimiento.
En cualquier caso, es importante recordar que estos datos son aproximados y basados en los percentiles y las estadísticas, y que la ganancia de peso de los niños alimentados al pecho es distinta de aquéllos alimentados con leche artificial.
En cuanto al peso, los pediatras recomiendan analizar su incremento durante un periodo, y no valorarlo como algo aislado en un momento puntual pues, como hemos comentado a lo largo del artículo, cada niño tiene su propio ritmo de crecimiento y lo importante no es tanto lo que engorde sino que vaya creciendo sano y feliz.

A cargo van carrying seven people crashed and overturned this morning in the Nunez area of Buenos Aires and two of the passengers were seriously injured .
According to information released by the city’s deputy emergency minister, the accident occurred at the intersection of Avenida del Libertador and Comodoro Rivadavia while a black Renault Kangoo was en route from the province of Buenos Aires to the federal capital.
The City Fire Department was responsible for rescuing two young people who were trapped on the road after the collision because they were unable to drive on their own . For their part, the remaining five men remained at the scene pending questioning by the police authorities.
One of the passengers of the Renault Kangoo, which crashed and rolled over in the Nunez district, watches the work of the city’s firefighters.

While work is underway, the Buenos Aires government has set up “partial” cuts along Libertador Avenue, one of the main arteries connecting the city to the province. For the same reason, they ruled out “simultaneous cuts on both hands.”
Works of 11 kilometers will be carried out in three sections. It will end in December 2022.
