Hace 10 años atrás mi mundo cambió para siempre. Cambió desde el segundo aquel en el que vi cómo lentamente se iba intensificando la segunda rayita color rosa del test de embarazo.
La vida es un milagro tan grande, que creer que estaban creciendo aquí dentro de mi parecía una fantasía. Poder convertir el amor en vida es el regalo más maravilloso que nos entrega Dios; y durante los meses en los que sentí sus corazones latir dentro de mi cuerpo; en los que esos corazoncitos tomaron como líder al mío. Ese fue sólo el comienzo del gran compromiso de darles siempre el mejor de los ejemplos. Yo quiero que mi corazón lata siempre con pasión y alegría; porque amor es lo único que tengo para darles y se que nunca nadie se los podrá arrebatar.
Es que por ese amor fue que yo aprendí a vivir.
Fue increíble verlos por primera vez en una ecografía. Qué difícil que es a veces entender ese rompecabezas de vida. Eran un punto en blanco y negro del tamaño de un arroz, pero ya tenían alma, ya tenían vida, palpitaban, sentían, amaban. 50% de mama, 50% de papa. Todos los días me los imaginaba creciendo. Mientras leía libros de desarrollo pensaba en que, quizás en ese momento ya les estaban saliendo las uñas, de qué color serían sus cabellos. No tenía ni la más minima idea de cómo se verían, pero siempre supe que serían perfectos.
Es que por ese amor yo volví a nacer.
Nací otra vez el 29 de Abril del 2004, y volví a nacer el 26 de Febrero del 2007. Nací otra vez cuando los pusieron en mis brazos. Cuando se alimentaron de mi pecho. Cuando se acurrucaron en mi regazo. Nunca antes me había sentido tan amada, ni tan bendecida. Sencillamente, los amo.
Es que por ese amor yo conocí el verdadero amor.
Y entendí gracias a ustedes; mis hijos; que querer es diferente a amar. Querer es desear algo para uno mismo. Amar es ser feliz dándolo todo por alguien más.
Por eso se cuánto los amo; porque la llegada de ustedes a mi vida marca un antes y un después.
Y aunque el después tenga un millón de retos, jamás lo cambiaría por el antes. Porque ahora tengo el amor creciendo conmigo.
Las cosas que hemos vivido en tan poco tiempo. Los retos, los triunfos, las lágrimas, las sonrisas, el amor, las caricias. Es despertar un día y mirarlos dormidos y pensar.. cómo es posible amarlos tanto. Es sorprenderme a mi misma mirándolos con una emoción y un orgullo incontrolable. Es aprender a sonreír con el alma, a sentir que juntos, todo lo podemos.
Es que el verdadero amor no tiene límites.
Ya han pasado 10 años desde que recibí el honor de convertirme en madre. A veces temo porque mientras ustedes crecen, yo envejezco. Y quisiera estar para ustedes por siempre. No quiero dejarlos solos, no me quiero perder ni un día de sus vidas.
Por eso le pido a Dios, que me de salud y que me de vida; porque si me ha dado tanto amor, quiero vivir para disfrutarlo, y morir para volver a nacer en él.
