retraso m (plural: retrasos m)
A mayor luz interior, menor oscuridad.

At the teachings and initiations of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in India, you will certainly need:
– seat cushion;
– FM radio receiver;
– mug for tea;
– cap from the sun;
Since everyone who goes to the exercises must go through a body search, it is advisable not to take unnecessary things with you. It is forbidden to bring cameras, mobile phones and tablets to the exercises.
Registration
In general, all teachings in India are free and open to the public. In order to participate in the Dharamsala exercise, one must personally register with the Tibetan Branch Security Office at McLeod Ganj (near the Tibet Hotel). It is not possible to register in advance. Registration begins approximately three days before the start of the exercise and ends one day before the first day of the exercise. Please bring your passport and two passport photos to check in. Since the teachings are attended by several thousand people, we advise you to arrive in Dharamsala 2-3 days before the start of the teachings and arrange your accommodation in advance. There are many hotels and guesthouses in Dharamsala. The exact schedule of exercises is determined 1-2 days before their start, as reported to their participants.
Exercise Seat
In European countries, you usually purchase a seat-specific ticket to participate in public events. In Tibet and India, people usually sit on the ground at public events. According to the existing custom, on the first day of the teachings, Tibetans mark the place where they are going to sit, leaving a mat or pillow there. In the future, this place is reserved for them. This tradition allows Tibetans to avoid the daily struggle for their place in the teachings. Following the old proverb: “You don’t go to a foreign monastery with your own charter,” we advise you to do in Dharamsala the way the Tibetans do it. Usually people start “reserving” a place for themselves at the exercises 1-2 days before they start. Pilgrims from foreign countries are allocated a special place where they can listen to the translation of teachings into foreign languages.
Translation
His Holiness the Dalai Lama teaches in Tibetan. Therefore, in most cases, the public teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in India are accompanied by simultaneous translation into English. The translation is broadcast on the radio. If you would like to listen to the translation, we advise you to bring an FM radio with headphones so as not to disturb those who are listening to the Tibetan version of the teachings. You will achieve the best audibility if you take a seat in a special section “for foreigners”, in the direction of which the broadcast is carried out. Although the quality of the received signal varies depending on the conditions, you can improve the reception by using the antenna built into the receiver. The teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala are in most cases accompanied by simultaneous translation into Russian. If you plan to attend teachings in other parts of India or in other countries, we advise you to inquire in advance about the availability of translation into Russian.
Meals
His Holiness the Dalai Lama always encourages his followers to give up meat during the teachings so that the teachings do not become an excuse for the massacre of sentient beings. It will be great if you can become a vegetarian during this time.
Tea and offerings to the monastic community
Usually during the teachings, tea is distributed to all those gathered, so it makes sense to take a mug with you. You will also see money being given to the monks and nuns. These are offerings to the spiritual community. Tea and offerings are distributed thanks to donations from sponsors and students of the teachings. If you would like to contribute and accumulate merit, ask where the donation office is located. The amount of the donation entirely depends on your desire and possibilities.
Sun and rain protection
His Holiness the Dalai Lama always advises those who sit in the sun to cover their heads and take care of their health. He also asks listeners to open their umbrellas when it rains. Therefore, you may well bring a sun cap and a small umbrella to the exercises.
Shoes
Tibetans usually don’t take off their shoes when they sit on the ground, or at least don’t take them off until they take their place. If you take off your shoes in advance and carry them in your hands directly over the heads of the people sitting, hardly anyone will like it.
Dress code
His Holiness the Dalai Lama does not pay much attention to the dress of the people he meets or gives teachings to. However, out of respect for the position of His Holiness, who is a spiritual leader and a monk, the organizing committee asks you to dress modestly when you go to the teachings. The style of your clothes does not matter much, but it should not be overly revealing and provocative. Always remember that you are initiated along with monks and nuns, respect for their vows is an integral part of Tibetan culture.
Buddhist names, titles and titles often differ in different countries depending on the dominance of a particular Buddhist school and direction, as well as local characteristics. In Russia, where Tibetan Buddhism of the Gelug school, which belongs to the Vajrayana branch of the Mahayana (“Great Vehicle”) direction, is most widely used, Buddhist clergy are commonly called lamas .
The word “Lama” is of Tibetan origin, from “Lana Medba” བླ་མ (བླ་ན་མེད་པ), which literally means “unsurpassed”, an analogue of the Indian “guru”. A better known translation is teacher, wisdom (the Buryat equivalent is bagsha ). I am often asked about the correct stress in this word: in the Buryat and Kalmyk pronunciation, the stress is placed on the last syllable – lama .
The most famous Buddhist in the world, of course, Dalai Lama . The word “dalai” is of Mongolian origin (more on this here) and is translated as “ocean” in the meaning of “great” (the rulers of the Mongol Empire after Genghis Khan bore the title of Dalai Khan). Thus, the concept of “Dalai Lama” is translated as “ocean of wisdom.” All Dalai Lamas have the Tibetan prefix Gyatso (“Zhamso” in Buryat and Mongolian), for example, the V Dalai Am – Lobsan Gyatso, our contemporary XIV Dalai Lama – Tenzin Gyatso (pronounced Danzan Zhamso in the Buryat manner).
The official title of the head of the Buddhists of Russia – Pandito Khambo Lama – was bestowed on Darzha Zayaev Dam in 1764 by Catherine the Great (more details here). Pandit, pandita – Sanskrit word, literally – scholar. Pandito – the highest academic degree of spiritual wisdom, it was awarded at the world’s oldest university, Nalanda in India (just imagine, Nalanda was founded in the first third of the 5th century (!), Knowledge was taught by more than a thousand professors for ten thousand students, the university owned nine-story buildings , 6 temples and 7 monasteries, 9million books). In India, pandit is an honorary title of a learned Brahmin, as well as a person highly educated in the field of classical Indian literature in Sanskrit. The honorary prefix “pandit” to the name was worn, in particular, by the first prime minister of independent India, Jawaharlal Nehru. The presence of this word in the title of the head of the Buddhists of Russia is not accidental – it denotes the inseparable connection of Russian Buddhists with the founder of the Teaching, Buddha Shakyamuni.
