THE PROM

SCHOOL OF ROCK

EUROVISION SONG CONTEST: THE STORY OF FIRE SAGA

¿Has podido ver alguna ya? ¿Cuál es tu favorita?

Text of this presentation

Slide 1

Algae cell
Radobolskaya L. Yu., Radobolsky S.I.

Slide 2

SINGLE-CELLULAR ALGAE
The peculiarity of unicellular forms is determined by the fact that organisms here consist of only one cell, therefore, cellular and organismal features are combined in its structure and physiology.
Small, invisible to the naked eye, unicellular algae plays the role of a kind of factory that extracts raw materials, processes them and produces such valuable compounds as proteins, carbohydrates and fats. In addition, oxygen is considered an important product of its activity. Thus, it actively participates in the cycle of substances in nature. Unicellular algae sometimes form temporary or permanent clusters in the form of colonies.

Slide 3

MOBILE CAGES
There are mobile and immobile cells. Movement in a liquid medium is carried out with the participation of special structures, which are either temporary or permanent outgrowths of the cell:
Cilia – numerous short formations that make vigorous oscillatory movements. -Pseudo-antennae (false cilia) – long, very thin, motionless hairs, which are most often found only after tinting.
-Flagella are long, small formations, with a lower frequency of beats than that of cilia and with a wave-like nature of movement.
The listed formations are the only cellular structures located outside the cell itself.
Among algae, the most common forms are two- or one-flagellated, less often four-, eight-flagellated, and very single with a large number of flagella. In some golden algae, between two mobile flagella there is a third – a fixed flagellum. With its help, the cell is attached to the substrate.
Flagella are smooth or pubescent. The motor flagellum is usually pubescent. Moreover, it happens that in some algae the flagella simultaneously carry scales, but more often there is one type of formation.

Slide 4

MULTICELLULAR ALGAE
Multicellular forms arose after the cell had gone through a long and complex path of development as an independent organism. When meeting with algae, the extraordinary variety of both shapes and sizes of their cells is striking.

Slide 5

CELL SHELL
In algae, unlike higher plants, there are cells whose contents are surrounded only by a thin membrane. Such cells are usually called naked. They are unable to maintain their shape and are constantly in an amoeboid state. Cells of this kind are found both among unicellular and multicellular algae, most often at the stage of gametes and zoospores.
The cells of some algae, in addition to the plasmalemma, are surrounded by a leathery, elastic layer. This layer is called the pellicle, or periplast. It consists of fibrillar substance and has a complex, multi-layered organization. Cells with such a pellicle are usually very variable in shape. Only a thick, shell-like pellicle can fix it firmly. On the surface of the pellicle sometimes there are folds, outgrowths in the form of teeth or thickenings, called scales. These structures in various combinations form the most bizarre patterns, giving the body a unique look. But their main function is to increase the strength of the cell cover.
The subsequent development of a plant cell should be recognized as the appearance on its surface of a cover in the form of a shell – first pectin, and then cellulose. The advantage of this formation is that it successfully combines the protective and supporting functions with the possibility of growth processes and permeability.
Cell walls of algae are very diverse both in their structure and in chemical composition. The thickness of the shell varies not only from species to species, but even within the same species, depending on the age of the cell.
The shells of many algae are supplied with various kinds of outgrowths in the form of bristles, spines and scales. Their role for the cell is ambiguous: in some cases they perform a protective function, while in others they provide optimal living conditions.

Slide 6

CELLULAR ORGANIZATION
In any cell, two closely related components are distinguished: the nucleus and the cytoplasm, and the level of organization of the cell as a whole depends on the degree of their development. Algae is the only group of plants where all currently known types of cellular organization are represented: prokaryotic – in blue-green algae, mesakaryotic – in flagellated flagella, eukaryotic – in algae of other divisions. Prokaryotes do not have a morphologically formed nucleus, and its functions are performed by a nucleotide consisting of DNA microfibrils.

Slide 7

Nucleus
Most algae have only one nucleus per cell, but there are cases when there are two or three or more. Cells with several tens or hundreds of nuclei are called cepoids. It is noteworthy that these algae return to a single-nuclear state during the formation of specialized cells of asexual and sexual reproduction.
The shape, size and location of the nucleus in the cell varies greatly in different algae, and also depending on the phase of development in which this or that organism is located.
Very small nuclei are characteristic of most unicellular algae.
In the nucleus of algae, the same structures were found as in the nucleus of other eukaryotes: shell, nuclear juice, nucleolus, and inclusions of chromotin.

Slide 8

CYTOPLASMA AND CELL BODIES
The second component of the cell – cytoplasm – consists of a homogeneous basic substance and bodies of various sizes and shapes immersed in it: mitochondria, dictyosomes, endoplasmic reticulum. This basic set of organelles is inherent in the cells of not only plants, but also animals.
In intensively growing cells, in addition to the listed organelles, one can observe a well-developed system of vesicles, or vacuoles.
Algae also have chloroplasts. They can be cup-shaped, ribbon-shaped, spiral, lamellar, star-shaped. As a rule, only one chloroplast is present in motile cells in green algae, in algae from other divisions there are two or more, in young evilenic algae from 50 to 80, and in old 200 to 300. Chloroplasts occupy either a central or wall position in the cell .

Slide 9

KELLIN
It is worth noting separately such a type of seaweed as kelp, because it can be eaten and, moreover, it is also healthy. If you regularly eat kelp, then cholesterol levels decrease, the work of the central nervous system, respiratory system, cardiovascular system improves, immunity increases, metabolism normalizes. Also, kelp is able to remove radionuclides and salts of heavy metals from the human body, stimulate the intestines.

4._Study of new material

Ciliates are characterized by the presence of motor organelles – cilia, nuclear dualism and a special form of the sexual process – conjugation. Most ciliates are free-living marine and freshwater protozoa. Less common among them are symbionts and parasites of various animals.

Ciliates are the most highly organized protozoa with the most complex system of organelles. The cell of ciliates is covered with a pill, which ensures the constancy of the body shape. The pellicle consists of a plasma membrane and a compacted peripheral layer of the cytoplasm, in which special sacs, the alveoli, are located in a mosaic order. Under the pellicle is the ectoplasm, in which many other organelles are immersed. First of all, these are kinetosomes – the basal bodies of cilia. Three root structures extend from the basal bodies: kinetodesma and two bundles of microtubules. They ensure the synchronism of the paddle-like movements of the cilia. The combination of pellicle and ectoplasm with all structures forms a support complex – the cortex of the ciliate cell.

Many ciliates have a complex system of digestive organelles. The mouth is often located in the hollow of the body – a funnel (peristome), surrounded by long cilia, or membrane. With the help of cilia, food is driven into the mouth (cytostome). Often, the mouth leads to a long pharynx

(cytopharynx), immersed in the endoplasm.

Freshwater ciliates have contractile vacuoles – osmoregulation and excretion organelles. Sometimes contractile vacuoles form a complex system. So, infusoria-shoes have two contractile vacuoles with 5-7 adductor canals each. First, excess fluid is collected in the ray-forming canals, and from them it is injected into the central vacuole, which is a reservoir, from which it is then pushed out.

The nuclear apparatus is located in the endoplasm of ciliates, they are characterized by nuclear dualism. Large nuclei – macronuclei regulate cellular metabolism, and small nuclei – micronuclei are involved in sexual processes.

Infusoria are characterized by two types of reproduction.

Determine from the text of the textbook what types of reproduction are found in ciliates.

Students find the answer:

1. Asexual

2. Sexual.

Asexual reproduction occurs in ciliates, as a rule, in favorable environmental conditions. (Animation “Asexual reproduction of ciliates-shoes”)

The sexual process, or conjugation, which first appeared in representatives of this type, occurs when unfavorable conditions of existence occur (Animation “Conjugation of ciliates-shoes”). .

Ciliates are a numerous type of animal. A total of 7500 species are known. The Ciliates type is divided into classes.

Classification of ciliates.

Type of infusoria

ciliary ciliary infusoria infusoria 9Ol000 . However, there are parasites among them. On fish, you can sometimes see a rash, each grain is a parasitic ciliate Ichthyophthyris. Having reached 1 mm in diameter in the process of growth, the ciliate leaves the fish and breaks up into a thousand tiny ciliates. These vagrants again infect the fish. Another parasitic ciliate, balantidia, settles in the intestines of humans and animals, bites into the walls of the intestine, causing the formation of ulcers.

There are ciliates-symbionts. Settling in the complex stomach of ungulates, such as cows, and help them digest tough plant foods.

5. Consolidation of knowledge

Laboratory work “Structure and life of ciliates-shoes”, performed on a computer

Students’ activities: perform tasks on filling out spreadsheets, compare, analyze, draw conclusions.

6 . Reflection

Today at the lesson we finished the study of animals belonging to the Protozoa Type. Ciliates are the most complex protozoa. Consequently, this is the most viable unicellular organism, the biological significance of sexual reproduction of which lies in the combination in one organism of the hereditary properties of 2 individuals. This increases the viability of the organism, which is expressed in better adaptability to changing environmental conditions.

The teacher asks the students to share their impressions of the lesson.

Teacher: And now, based on the knowledge gained today about the organization of ciliates, let’s make a syncwine.

Inside the cell there is a macro- and micronucleus. The tentacles are a hunting apparatus. Suctoria catch other smaller ciliates, such as slippers. A channel runs inside the tentacles, and a sticky drop of secretion stands out at the top. Swimming ciliates, touching the tentacles of the suctoria, stick to them.
