Las pérdidas de sangre en el primer trimestre de embarazo son causa de gran preocupación en las mujeres, como es normal, y siempre son motivo de consulta médica.
Muchas mujeres sufren pérdidas durante los primeros meses de gestación y su aparición puede deberse a diferentes motivos. Pueden ser provocadas por problemas menores o bien ser el signo de una complicación grave.
Por eso, es muy importante aprender a reconocerlas, observar el color, la cantidad y si las pérdidas van acompañadas de dolor abdominal o algún otro síntoma.
Siempre que haya pérdida de sangre en el embarazo hay que consultarlo inmediatamente con el médico para que realice una exploración y una ecografía para controlar el desarrollo de la gestación.
A continuación, explicamos cada una de las posibles causas de hemorragia vaginal (leve o grave) en los primeros tres meses de embarazo.
Entre la cuarta y la sexta semana de embarazo puede producirse una ligera pérdida de color amarronada o rosada que dura uno o dos días, parecida a la que puedes tener cuando comienza o acaba tu menstruación. No suele ir acompañada de dolor abdominal o si lo hay, es leve.
Si bien cuando ocurre la concepción el organismo envía señales químicas para evitar que se produzca la menstruación, en ocasiones al implantarse el óvulo fecundado en las paredes del útero se erosiona el tejido endometrial produciendo un leve sangrado llamado “sangrado de implantación”.
Es posible que todavía no sepas que estás embarazada y el sangrado sea confundido con la llegada de la menstruación. Pero verás que el sangrado no va a más y al realizarte una prueba se confirmará el embarazo.
En el caso de sufrir pérdidas de sangre más abundantes (como una menstruación) acompañadas de cólicos abdominales, puede ser un síntoma de aborto espontáneo.

Se cree que la mitad de las concepciones acaban en aborto espontáneo, algunas sin que lleguemos a saberlo. La respuesta a por qué se produce un aborto espontáneo es muy compleja. Las causas pueden ser una combinación de múltiples factores, pero la mayoría de las veces se debe a fallos genéticos en los primeros estadios de la formación del embrión.
Si las pérdidas vaginales son escasas pero el dolor intenso, puede ser uno de los síntomas de embarazo ectópico o embarazo extrauterino, el cual ocurre cuando el embrión se implanta fuera del útero, normalmente en la trompa de Falopio, y tiene muy pocas posibilidades de llegar a término.
Las pérdidas suelen ser ligeras y de color pardo (salvo si llega a romperse la trompa de Falopio que son abundantes) y pueden aparecer varios días o semanas antes de que aparezcan los dolores.
El dolor en la parte baja del abdomen es muy intenso en caso de embarazo ectópico y puede doler más un lado que el otro. También pueden ocurrir mareos, desmayos y a veces dolor de lumbago o en la zona de los hombros.
El embarazo molar es muy poco frecuente pero uno de sus síntomas es el sangrado vaginal. Puede haber hemorragia o pérdidas intermitentes de color parduzco acompañadas de un crecimiento excesivo del útero que no corresponde a las semanas de gestación.
El embarazo molar es el resultado de una fecundación anormal del óvulo que produce un crecimiento deforme del tejido embrionario (mola hidatiforme). En ningún caso logra sobrevivir produciéndose un aborto espontáneo acompañado de hemorragias de color oscuro y acuoso, aunque generalmente no se acompaña de dolor.
Un hematoma también pude ser causa de sangrado. Es una acumulación de sangre en el interior de la cavidad endometrial, algo común en las mujeres durante las primeras semanas de embarazo. El sangrado es abundante (como si fuera una regla) pero no suele acompañarse de dolores abdominales. La mayoría de las veces, haciendo reposo el hematoma se reabsorbe y las pérdidas desaparecen.
