“In the same way, I decided, sovereign sovereigns, to describe every night what happened during the day, and during the day to note what happened at night, meaning to draw up a new sea chart, on which, in the proper places, all the seas under their wind would be shown and the lands of the sea-ocean, and also start a book and put everything in it in the same way in drawings with latitude and longitude marks.
The pen creaked, drawing cursive letters. A wave crashed against the side of the caravel. Quiet on ships and on the shore. Only the watch does not sleep, but the newly-made lord admiral of the sea-ocean enters line by line on the sheet. Tomorrow is his day! Tomorrow he will lead the Santa Maria, the Pinta and the Nina into the unknown.
“And I burdened myself with all this so much that I forgot about sleep; and there is much to be experienced in fulfilling what is destined, and the accomplishment of all will require great labors.
Thus began a voyage that was destined to change the fate of many people – on August 3, 1492, Cristobal Colon, also known as Christopher Columbus, at the head of an expedition, sailed from the harbor of the city of Palos de la Frontera to the Canary Islands, and from there, after repairing one from the caravels, headed west.
After 33 days, the flotilla reached the Bahamas and the New World was “discovered”. The word “open” is in quotation marks, because even before Columbus, aliens from Europe and
The Mediterranean has reached these shores more than once. Take the same Leif Erickson and his gang of Viking daredevils who landed in Vinland (modern Newfoundland) or desperate merchants from the kingdom of Hiram (the Paraiba stone with inscriptions in ancient Phoenician was found in Brazil). But in traditional historiography, it was Columbus who was named the discoverer.
Over the centuries that have passed since those days, many books, monographs, works, reports and studies have been published, nevertheless, the life of the famous navigator is hidden from us not only by the fog of time, but also by obvious distortions that have established themselves in the minds of mankind.
Already the origin of his parents causes controversy among scientists: Genoese, Catalans, immigrants from the Swiss cantons or secret Jews from the island of Ibiza?
Columbus – the son of a poor wool merchant from Genoa? Yes, complete! But what about class boundaries and the almost insurmountable limits of corporations? Of course, a loving father could send his heir to study at the University of Pavia. But it’s not cheap, and if the offspring does not intend to study law and help the family by chicanery in protecting its interests, then what is all this for?
However, Columbus miraculously becomes a captain, attaches his younger brother to Lisbon, the most important center for the production of nautical charts, as a cartographer, finds himself in correspondence with sailors from different countries, and then – and it’s completely strange! – to marry the daughter of the governor of the Portuguese island of Porto Santo, who was in great favor with Prince Henry the Navigator, who founded a navigation school and an observatory in Portugal. It was under him that a new type of ships with slanting sails was created – caravels. Two – “Pinta” and “Nina” crossed the Pacific Ocean with Columbus.
But if Christopher was prepared for a certain “mission” from childhood, then everything converges: from who knows where the connections came from, and strange gaps and omissions about childhood and youth, and the university, famous for its teachers of mathematics and calculus, and Portugal with its best at that time moment with cards, a flotilla and sailors, and so successfully turned up a party. The girl was not just a noble, but the daughter of a knight of the Order of St. Santiago and the Sword.
Already at that time, there were rumors that it was in the chests of the late father-in-law that Columbus found maps on which an unknown engraver plotted the coast of that very Terra Incognita (Land of the Unknown), to which three ships rushed from the boundaries of the Spanish Kingdom. However, gossip about Columbus went even worse: he did not disdain, they say, a skipper from the Genoese who emerged from nowhere to solder the captain’s assistants in the port taverns, and ask them about secret routes, latitudes and winds, for which they threatened him more than once with beatings! Yes, he rummaged through the chests of the sailors’ widows – he was looking for maps, ship’s magazines and old sailing directions! Yes, if you want to know, he is a secret Jew! He is going together with Jewish usurers, together with Sahanarel and Torres, to find fertile lands and take all their tribe there!
Stop, now this is interesting!
The surviving fragments of the last manuscript of Columbus – the “Book of Prophecies” – say: the key to the expedition is the verse of the psalm “Who will give salvation to Israel from Zion!” (13:7).
And what curious coincidences: the most Christian kings Ferdinand and Isabella appointed the expulsion of the Jews from Spain on August 2, 1492, according to the Julian calendar. The kings had good advisers – everything was symbolically designed: on this date it was just 9Ava by Jewish reckoning, the day of the destruction of the first and second Temples, the day of fasting, remembrance, sorrow and sorrow! And the departure of Columbus was also scheduled for the 2nd. But the admiral found the reason, and sailed on the 3rd: after all, not a single adherent of Judaism would begin such an enterprise on such a day.
Linguists of the 21st century, using modern methods of processing data from the analysis of Columbus’ letters, came to the conclusion that the native language of the great traveler was the Castilian version of Spanish, which was also spoken by Sephardi Jews, and not at all Italian, as one might expect from a native of Genoa.
On Christopher’s private letters to his relatives, he put three badges at the top right. Scientists from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem have concluded that this is an abbreviation of the Hebrew letters בסד, “bet-samech-dalet”, meaning the Aramaic phrase “be siyata di-shmaya”, “Heaven help”. In the Middle Ages, believing Jews marked the texts in this way.
He is not just a man, he is a bondage, the one who binds the worlds of God… – whispered Kabbalists who fled from Toledo, – Others can sail there even until the end of time, and see nothing! Or everything open will remain hidden in the eyes of people. Colon is the admiral of our hope!
Before they set sail, messengers kept arriving at the Santa Maria: from the royal couple, from the Chancellor of Aragon and Marrano, Luis de Santagel, who donated 17,000 gold ducats to an unprecedented enterprise.
The interests of peoples, rulers, rich people, pastors and politicians were intertwined into an intricate Gordian knot. Power, new lands, riches, gold! Freedom and security! All this, those who remained on the shore, expected from one man, Cristobal Colon. Apparently, he represented the interests of various power groups in the expedition, “pierced” with great difficulty. They were officially looking for a shortcut to India. Christopher, by his power, forbade saying otherwise and promised to personally throw overboard anyone who raises malicious chatter! Although, if someone who knows the letter had a chance to look into the royal instructions, he would be surprised to find that there are no words about India. Only about the discovery of new islands and lands – if such a thing happened, it would be very vague.
The logbook of the Columbus ship indicates that one of the October days of 1492, the admiral spent one in his cabin and completely refused to eat. “Prayed,” the ship’s log notes briefly. If we translate the date into the Jewish calendar, then we get … Yom Kippur!
The wind that month was favorable and nothing stopped the mysterious sailor. Nor the Sargasso Sea, eerie for a sailor: the ships were going, just in case, every now and then making measurements of the depth. Suddenly – shallow! Nor the fears of the sailors who went to childish tricks to turn back. Columbus had to underestimate the number of miles traveled a day by almost half: see how little else we ran!
At night, – they whispered on the deck, – the watchmen see how monsters emerge from the abyss to look at the madmen who dared to swim to the end of the world! The admiral has gone mad on his road to India!
But signs of the near shore began to appear: birds, shoals of coastal fish, fragments of a boat of strange work brought by the current … Everyone perked up. There was no more talk of going back. Mars goggled – to see the shore first and a lifetime royal pension is yours.
At 2 o’clock in the morning on October 12, 1492, Rodrigo Triana, the sailor of the Pinta, who was ahead of the flotilla, shouted that the land was visible in the distance. From the “Pinta” they gave a signal with shots. On all the ships they removed the sails and impatiently began to wait for the dawn . ..
The success of the expedition pushed the boundaries for the Jews and gave them time and space to be safe. The Inquisition reached these territories only after decades.
Over a third of Columbus’ crew were Marranos. Thus began the exodus of Jews from Europe to the New World. But not only hope found a place for itself on ships that set off for unknown lands. On board there were greed, and lust for power, and all conceivable vices.
Together with the pioneers, they also landed on the coast of the islands and the open continent. The conquest of America began.
P.S.
The first biographer of Columbus, his youngest son Fernando, carefully reported in his book that his father’s family, according to him, came from the “royal house in Jerusalem”, and when he and his brother reached 13 years old, their father took them on a journey to teach there ” special things.”
After the discovery of America and the establishment of Spanish colonies there, Columbus concluded an agreement with the Spanish king Ferdinand that in Jamaica, where he was going to move with his family, the court of the Inquisition would not operate.
